  • 1. Who qualifies to live at Karen Retreat Village?
    • Anybody who is over the age of 50 you do not necessarily have to be married or part of a married couple. Karen Retreat Village has been built for people who have worked hard during their lives and are about to embark upon a period of their lives where they can enjoy themselves in the company of new and old friends exploring new ideas and hobbies.

  • 2. Do I own the property?
    • The property and land is leasehold, however you are buying the right to live in the property as long as the owner lives and subject to conditions stated in the lease. Karen Retreat Limited owns the freehold of the buildings, the shared and communal gardens, access roads, the jogging track and the facilities.

  • 3. I am in my 50’s, but my wife is younger then I am. Do we qualify to live in the Karen Retreat Village?
    • Karen Retreat Village has been specifically designed for people over 50 and provides them with a community of like minded individuals thus both partners should be over 50 to qualify to live in the Village.

  • 4. Can I bring my children and grandchildren to stay with me in the Karen Retreat Village?
    • Of course this is your private home and you are welcome to have family and friends to visit for short periods of time. However the facilities are for the use of permanent residents.


  • 5. Are pets allowed in the Karen Retreat Village?
    • Yes with the prior written approval of Karen Retreat Limited, so long as you can take good care of them and they are not a nuisance to the other residents they are welcome.

  • 6. What happens if I and/or my partner need nursing or other help in the home?
    • Residents are free to buy in any help they require.

    7. Do you have a brochure that gives more information about the Karen Retreat Village?
    • Yes we do fill in the Contact Us form and we will send you one or please call us and we will do our best to answer any questions.

  • 8. Are pets allowed in the Karen Retreat Village?
    • Yes with the prior written approval of Karen Retreat Limited, so long as you can take good care of them and they are not a nuisance to the other residents they are welcome.

  • 9. Is there a service charge and what does it cover?
    • Yes there is a monthly service charge for each residence. The service charge covers the cost of providing the Residents Manager, 24 hour Security Systems, external maintenance of the building and grounds, buildings insurance, water and the provision and maintenance of services in all the communal areas.

  • 10. What happens if I want to relocate?
    • If a resident wishes to relocate then they will surrender their right to the property and they will receive the amount originally paid for the property.

  • 11. What happens if the owner of the property dies?
    • If the owner of the property dies the estate of the owner receives the amount originally paid for the property. If the property is in the joint names of two qualifying residents and one resident dies then the other resident retains the continuing right to live in the property as long as they can meet the terms of the lease.

  • 12. Is there a service charge and what does it cover?
    • Yes there is a monthly service charge for each residence. The service charge covers the cost of providing the Residents Manager, 24 hour Security Systems, external maintenance of the building and grounds, buildings insurance, water and the provision and maintenance of services in all the communal areas. This charge is fixed annually and all maintenance services are paid for at cost.

  • 13. What about car parking?
    • Each residence has 2 parking spaces one covered and one uncovered. There are also spare spaces available for use by visitors.
